Getting Your Affairs in Order …
You've probably heard the term "Getting Your Affairs In Order", but do you know what it means, and more importantly, do you know the steps to take to get your affairs in order? "Getting Your Affairs In Order" typically refers to the process of organising and preparing important personal, financial, and legal documents, usually in anticipation of a significant life event or potential end-of-life situation due to serious illness, advanced aging or just being organised and prepared.
The process can include, but is not limited to:
Preparing or updating a Will.
Organising financial documents and accounts.
Arranging for power of attorney.
Creating Advance Care Directives.
Planning a living wake.
Funeral arrangements and after body care.
Dying at home.
Organising personal belongings and important documents.
Communicating wishes to family members or close friends.
Planning for care of dependents (children, pets, etc.).
Settling any outstanding debts or obligations.
The goal is to ensure that your wishes are clear and that family and loved ones are not left with unnecessary burdens or confusion during a difficult time.
Imagine having a "Getting Your Affairs In Order" folder containing all this crucial information. But tackling this task alone can seem daunting, and you don't know what you don't know. Where do you start?
